Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira was arrested Thursday over his alleged role in leaking secret files from the Pentagon that have embarrassed U.S. allies and cast doubt on Ukraine's ability to succeed in its war with Russia. The arrest came hours after President Biden said on Thursday the U.S. is “getting close” in the investigation to finding the source of the largest government records leak in a decade. The New York Times reported earlier Thursday that Teixeira, 21, was the leader of the Discord server where the files were shared and is an Airman First Class with the 102nd Intelligence Wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard.A hundred or more of the documents are thought to exist, detailing everything from Russian and Ukrainian battlefield assessments to affairs across U.S.-allied nations. Here's everything we know about Teixeira and the investigation into him. NEW YORK — Edouard Julien collected his first and second major league hits. Michael A. Taylor, Julien and Carlos Correa hit back-to-back-to-back home runs. And the Twins smacked eight hits, six for extra bases. And that was just the first inning. For the past 20 years, Yankee Stadium has been a house of horrors for the Twins, but it was anything but on Thursday night, when the Twins pounded out 13 hits in an 11-2 series-opening beatdown of the Yankees.Oh, and Twins starting pitcher Joe Ryan was quite good himself to put the cherry on top of the Twins’ big night. Ryan was staked to a nine-run lead before he even set foot on the mound, watching his teammates put the game out of reach before his night even started.Fittingly, an exciting night for the Twins started with one of their most exciting prospects, Julien, 23, who looks like he could plant himself atop the Twins’ lineup for years to come.Playing in front of a crowd of about 25 friends and family members, Julien got the offensive ...Wild announce Freddy Gaudreau contract extension during game against Predators

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Less than 10 minutes after Freddy Gaudreau found the back of the net on Thursday night against the Nashville Predators, the Wild announced that they have signed him to a 5-year, $10.5 million contract extension. That will keep Gaudreau with the organization through the 2027-28 season. It always felt like only a matter of time before the Wild got this deal done. Not only is Gaudreau having the best season of his career — he has 19 goals and 19 assists and has played in all 82 games — he’s someone that coach Dean Evason trusts to play in every situation. It was a long road for Gaudreau to get to the highest level. After signing with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League as an undrafted free agent on June 12, 2014, Gaudreau grinded in the minors, and that’s putting it lightly. He played a whopping 280 games for the Admirals alone while trying to make a name for himself.“It’s something I’ve always kept inside of me as a drea...Fire breaks out in a trailer at Coldbrook Campground

The bond for Lilly Whitworth, a former student charged with two counts of criminal attempt to commit murder in connection to threats targeting Colorado Springs schools, has been increased tenfold. On Thursday Whitworth’s bond was increased to $750,000, according to the Elbert County District Attorney’s Office. The substantial increase came about after an Elbert County Jail staffer reported on Monday that Whitworth “indicated if able to bond out, the defendant would still try to carry out the original plans of a mass shooting,” the DA’s office said in a news release.Prosecutors on Tuesday filed a motion with the court to increase the bond, as well as seeking “additional protections in the mandatory protection order.”Related ArticlesCrime and Public Safety | Kendrick Castillo’s parents ask judge to release information about STEM School shooting — including alleged warning signs Crime and Public Safety | Two teens sente...Kiszla: Broncos should trade Jerry Jeudy if they can get this beast of a pass rusher in NFL draft

After failing the Broncos as a general manager, George Paton needs to ace the NFL draft. There’s no margin for error after paying heavily to acquire quarterback Russell Wilson and coach Sean Payton. With only five draft picks in his cupboard, can Paton find a way to acquire three rookies who can make an impact as starters for the Broncos? Here are my top three targets for Denver in the draft later this month:Tuli Tuipulotu, USC edge rusherTyler Scott, Cincinnati wide receiverTyjae Spears, Tulane running backYes, this wish list is a tall order to fill. But it can be done, although Paton will have to quit waiting on receiver Jerry Jeudy to grow up and trade the 2020 first-round draft pick in order to upgrade Denver’s roster to my specifications. The Broncos defense is stout but not intimidating because it lacks a truly frightening pass rush with the departure of Bradley Chubb and the lack of reliability of Randy Gregory.Generating a fierce pass rush in a division ruled by Kansas City qua...With hole in rotation after German Marquez’s injury, Rockies could turn to Noah Davis or Peter Lambert in Seattle

The Rockies’ thin starting rotation took its first big hit this week with right-hander German Marquez’s trip to the injured list for forearm inflammation, leaving Colorado without a scheduled starter for Sunday in Seattle.Marquez insisted the inflammation, which is the same issue that ended his 2019 season in late August, “is a minor thing” and that he “just needs some rest” before getting back on the mound. While it appears the Rockies avoided a devastating blow to their staff — whenever a pitcher points to the inner part of their elbow as Marquez did Monday night against St. Louis, alarms go off — it still leaves Colorado with a question of who will toe the rubber for the series finale at T-Mobile Park, plus a second start Marquez is likely to miss next Friday in Philadelphia. As of Wednesday, manager Bud Black said the Rockies “are still working through those things.” But the club doesn’t have many in-house options unless a 40-...Latest news
