A crew member is recovering after getting his foot stuck in a yacht. It happened near Southeast 16th Street in Fort Lauderdale. The victim’s foot was wedged between the vessel and swim platform. Firefighters used airbags to make space and get his foot out. (CNN) — Ovidio Guzmán López, son of Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, pleaded not guilty to drug and money laundering charges Monday afternoon.Making his first court appearance since being extradited from Mexico on Friday, Guzmán López wore an orange jumpsuit and restraints at the Dirksen United States Courthouse in downtown Chicago.Prosecutors disclosed in court the death penalty was taken off the table as part of extradition negotiations with Mexican authorities, adding two of the six counts Guzmán López faces carry a mandatory life sentence.The US had been seeking his extradition for drug trafficking, and he will be held without bond pending trial, the judge ordered.He is due back in court for a status hearing on November 17.CNN is working to identify Guzman’s attorney for comment.Guzman was arrested by Mexican authorities in January of this year following a dramatic operation in the northern state of Sinaloa that led to 29 deaths. The Broward Sheriff’s Office Burglary Apprehension Team brought an end to a months-long spree of burglaries targeting Jeep vehicles at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) on Saturday.According to a news release, BSO detectives observed Jonathan Quintero, 22, of Hollywood, and Diogenes Morel Martinez, 25, of Fort Lauderdale, in the act of stealing headlights and grills from two Jeep Wranglers parked in a long-term lot at FLL.
