GENESEE, Colo. (KDVR) — Summer storms this year created prime conditions for fall colors in the high country. Monday marks the beginning of the final two weeks of prime leaf peeping, which draws thousands of drivers to mountain areas along Interstate 70.“We left Connecticut for this,” new resident John told FOX31. More than yellow aspens: Which trees turn which colors in Colorado? The Colorado Department of Transportation is working on keeping the roads in good condition before winter rolls in, which means highway work zones are possible even on weekends. “We check CDOT because we know the construction that’s happening on I-70 all the time,” said Shawn, who travels to the high country to view the beauty of the Aspen trees.CDOT says getting off the highway can provide an enhanced experience when it comes to leaf peeping. The state has 26 scenic and historic byways that provide closer access to fall colors. You can find them on the cotrip.org website along with safety information, dr...Body of missing person recovered in Chatfield Reservoir

Happy Monday, South Florida!Hopefully everyone had a great weekend! The weather across South Florida has been quite unsettled as we were on the south side of a weak front since last week. While we saw a few soggy days during the week, the weekend did bring plenty of dry time, followed by our daily dose of downpours and thunderstorms. After days of tracking the front over Florida, it is finally sinking south of our area today. But because we are still on the south side of that front, conditions this morning were very muggy while temperatures were still warm in the 80s.Today, the above mentioned front will push through South Florida and finally put a cap on these stormy and soggy days. First we can expect another [final] round of rain so don’t put away the rain gear just yet because you will be needing them from time to time today. Temperatures will be reaching into the upper 80s with very humid conditions still in the forecast. Also worth mentioning, there is still a coastal flood ad...Annual Twin Cities Marathon canceled due to extreme heat

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk mocked Ukraine’s war-time leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday, using a meme to scoff at the president’s calls for Western aid. “When it’s been 5 min and you haven’t asked for a billion dollars in aid,” read Musk’s message, which accompanied Zelenskyy’s head attached to a famous photo of an agitated schoolboy, who — according to the meme’s etymology — was in a classroom and desperately trying to hold in flatulence. Musk has had a troubled relationship with Ukrainians and the country’s administration since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his full-scale invasion in February 2022, but now they’ve had just about enough of the SpaceX chief and owner of X (formerly Twitter). “So you have bought social media to bully people who are dying because [they] love freedom,” Ukrainian stand-up comedian Anton Tymoshenko wrote in response to Musk’s post.“Elon, did you write this meme during a friendly conversation with ...What’s closed today to observe National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Forecasters predict the center of the storm will hit the island’s southern cities, while bringing heavy rains to the east coast including the city of Taitung. In the Philippines, which will avoid the typhoon’s direct hit, the weather bureau issued storm warnings in at least six northern provinces and warned of possible flooding and landslides especially in mountainous regions. WASHINGTON (AP) — Americans view college campuses as far friendlier to liberals than to conservatives when it comes to free speech, with adults across the political spectrum seeing less tolerance for those on the right, according to a new poll.Overall, 47% of adults say liberals have “a lot” of freedom to express their views on college campuses, while just 20% said the same of conservatives, according to polling from the University of Chicago and The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.Republicans perceive a stronger bias on campuses against conservatives, but Democrats see a difference too — about 4 in 10 Democrats say liberals can speak their minds freely on campuses, while about 3 in 10 Democrats say conservatives can do so.“If you’re a Republican or lean Republican, you’re unabashedly wrong, they shut you down,” said Rhonda Baker, 60, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, who voted for former President Donald Trump and has a son in college. “If they hold a rally, it...Latest news
