WASHINGTON, Mo. – Missouri is still trying to collect unemployment funds handed out during the pandemic. This time, a man from Washington, Missouri, contacted FOX 2 to spotlight his problem, shared by so many others still trying to recover from the COVID crisis.David Wilmoth is in the same boat as tens of thousands of Missourians. The state is demanding he repay thousands of unemployment dollars paid to him during the COVID pandemic. In his case, the state is asking for $16,000.Money he doesn’t have.“Well, I called you. And other than that, I cried a little bit,” Wilmoth said. “I didn't do anything wrong; I didn't lie to anyone; I didn't misrepresent myself; I just did what they asked me to do.”Wilmoth said he was laid off during the pandemic and received unemployment. Mayor Bass along with officials from the Los Angeles Unified School District, the Department of Transportation, Metro and the L.A. Fire Department updated the public Sunday on the massive fire that has indefinitely closed the 10 Freeway in downtown L.A. Officials said that they wanted to prepare the public for significant delays in the coming days weeks as all lanes within a two mile stretch of the I-10 downtown are closed until further notice. The blaze was first reported around 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning in a storage yard near East 14th and Alameda streets. Flames quickly spread to a neighboring storage yard and eventually engulfed the freeway overpass above. The fire was so hot that it melted some of the freeway’s steel guardrails and concrete pillars, fire officials said. It eventually spread to eight acres before being contained. Gov. A large fire that broke out underneath the 10 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday has led to the full closure of part of the highway and a state of emergency being issued. What caused the blaze remains under investigation, but the heat from the flames was so intense that it melted some of the steel guardrails and cement columns that hold up part of the overpass.
